Tom Thiele stuff synced over.

The site TomThiele.com's been up for a while now, but you can now see it with a different skin on - in the form of a HiatusMedia update.

Nevermore Episode 1 up, and a bit of sprucing up.

First off, I'm beginning to (unofficially) add a few bits of literature here and there, but because Blogger's formatting capabilities are stuck somewhere in the 14th century it's taking a long time. Nevertheless, the first episode is up now, and can be found here:

Nevermore, Episode 1: The Doomed City

Next, you'll notice a couple of things we've done to make the site look a little better. First, there's that new entrance picture you'll have seen on your way in, but there's also a change to the sidebar - we've added all our partner sites, including TomThiele.com, and extended our links, but most importantly we've deleted our Amazon widget, because it was making the page just take too long to load.

More literature will be added as and when I can be arsed.

WOW! AN ACTUAL UPDATE!

Given that I haven't updated HiatusMedia in a long, long time, I figured it'd be a good idea to post a) exactly what we've been doing with our time and b) what's to come. But first, some general news:

We've had a shake-up with regards to the book. The Chewy Cerebrum and Other Stories will now be illustrated (mainly) by Gemma Smith, rather than the slacker that is Greg Curzon. Our release date is looking to be about February 2009, with wider distribution (Amazon, etc.) headed for about April.

So, what have we been doing in this... hiatus? Well:

  • There's been a phenomenon surrounding a certain boy called Tom Thiele, resulting in a gangsta rap being made about him. If you want to check it out, then click here to visit TomThiele.com. There'll be a proper site synchronisation of this material sooner or later.
  • I've been busy with my tumblelog, ChrisJFraser.com. A lot of the fictional material on there will eventually be reposted here - see below for info on literature.
  • God knows what Joe's been up to.

What does the future of HiatusMedia hold?

  • Better site synchronisation. We're spreading ourselves fairly thin as far as websites go at the moment, with sites for each project we embark on, and it's about time that we use HiatusMedia as it was used before - as a central "hub" of all our content. Thus, expect stuff like the Tom Thiele phenomenon and the book information to get its own dedicated space here.
  • A literature section - eventually. Although I might start adding stuff beforehand, I'm refusing to make the Literature section live until we publish this godforsaken book - that way, it's clean, as people can both buy the compilation and preview each section by reading it on here. The emphasis will be on exposition - no cruddy samplers, or anything like that - just full-on, completed works. The books will be for people who want to have a physical copy in their hands.
  • A closer emphasis on literature overall. Right now, even if it's just small stuff, I'm producing work on a more or less weekly basis, and even Joe with all his inactivity is still into writing more than anything. When we do launch the literature section, it'll be the biggest thing on here.
  • A better, more well-defined and organised links section. Although this seems fairly straightforward, there are various logistical issues with the site's HTML that mean I can't just edit this straight away. Either way, we could do with sprucing it up.

In the classic, Hiatus style, I end this post with two words that will continue right until this site withers and dies:

Stay tuned.

I would post a long update about how exciting it all is, but I'm absolutely shattered and I still have a ton of homework to do. Nevertheless, check it out.

How I love our singular fan

Doris? Yes I know it seems odd that we're speaking to you directly and not through the usual cryptic messages but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you.

I know it's hard for you to actually use a computer, let alone check up on every single news post that we make, especially with that comatose state that you're in.

I just wanted to give you a little reassurance in your usage of this site and a short message that also goes out to all our other... well just you

If any of your knitting pals want us to, for example, care about that horrid company tearing down the orphanage to make way for a puppy torturing facility just post a comment and the ego trip that follows will surely help it in some way or form.

Love Joe

The Tom Thiele mission has begun.

New initial designs from Dan Levy

A couple more designs from our glorious cover illustrator, Daniel Levy. This boy knows no creative bounds, it would seem.

New cover, folks.

... and in other news, we're 13 pages off completing our third episode of Nevermore. Sadly, Joe's going away to Malta of all places tomorrow, so it's still going to be a while. Oh, and there's a new title, too, given we'd apparently subconsciously stolen the last one off Jhonen Vasquez.

Features draft cover art from Mr. Daniel Levy. He really is a fantastic chap.

I accidentally placed an old image of the cover in for the last one. This one's still a preview, but contains a better idea of what it's going to look like.

Here's a quick look at what our compilation book, Parasitic Dementia For Dummies (wt) is going to look like when it surfaces next October. The main image is probably going to change, but the layout's fairly permanent now.

And all the time, we're away in the shadows....

OK, so things have hardly been productive over here. But there's a fair bit going on in the background.

My short story, initially entitled "Ambition" but now called The Sound of Laughter is finished, pending any minor editions here and there. We've finished the second episode of Nevermore together, though there's going to be a few changes with regards to order. And I've just set up ChrisJFraser.com, which has been taking up a fair bit of my time.

Which leaves very little time for site renovation, which is what we really need. Oh, it's there as a priority, but there's a lot of things going on at the moment, which is why it all seems a bit quiet. Nice little paradox.

Chop those eyelids off.

Following on from that unprecedented rant....

I have to be honest - I haven't been doing anything for the site in a long while.

Guilty as charged. Don't shoot me.

Give me the weekend. I promise I'll try and finish How To Be A Homosexual once and for all, and we can finally fucking bury it.

Because it really is starting to drive me mad.

Apparently, we're supposed to care about the bint who got herself killed because she was married. They could at least report an innocent death. Maybe some collateral. Or, here's a thought - someone accidentally gunned down by the British army.

Or is that too liberal?

BBC News Breakfast

"After the first FEMALE soldier death ON THE FRONTLINE we have to question: ARE OUR TROOPS IN HARMS WAY?"

Erm... yeah.

They kinda are y'know being on the FRONTLINE an' all.

Is this the news keeping up the pre-tense that it is quite an odd thing for people to die after they join the army?

Y'know when you go to a place where they shoot, torture and kill ya because... well you have invaded their country for reasons that you've only been told are "right" and "just" so you may have to deal with some violence at some point.

Met with at least some resistance... we apologise.

And it was female... wow... and she joined the army... which surprisingly has quite a high death toll (who knew?) so she has to be blamed somewhat for her decision of throwing away her life... but should I care?

Should I care that a person sacrificed their life for Queen and Country? Two of the most pointless things in our modern climate?

If it was for a zippo lighter I could understand

A really cool zippo lighter

With a limitless supply of flints

I think free zippo lighters are the way forward to a brighter and more forgiving future

Sure there would be a lot more fires and arson cases

But they'd be peaceful arson attacks

Happy fires

Zippo lighter skit

On a lighter (haha) note... i'm writing sketches again... go me!

I also made a Facebook group which I suggest you join because if it becomes world famous they'd have to talk about it on the news and that would be slightly amusing.

Coincidence? I think not Watson

My birthday is the same as John Cleese's.

Oh I do long for the day when we meet up and have that cocaine orgy...

After he receives the lifetime achievement award for comedic service (blahblahblah) and then as we sit back, we get naked, and call forth the butler to go out and return with some hoes.

This is all bullshit though.

John Cleese would never win the lifetime award for comedic service because he is long past being publicly funny and clever.

However it would be fun to get naked with him and a couple of whores... his saggy tits and their ripe ones would make beautiful contrasting elements.

I could write a song about it

Never question.

Never question.

Never be curious.

Never consider that the very root of this world is flawed.

Never think that you can truly make a difference to this world.

Never even let the thought enter your mind that this world is so corrupt, so far gone, that destruction can be the only effective solution.

Never, and this is a big never, allow those views to be made public.

Never try and promote your views as sane, no matter how credible they are.

A weak sense of positivity is always better than extreme negativity as a means to an end.

Well done, you're a model citizen.

Hello previous generation

I know you're listening... well at least reading and I marvel at your desire to understand and protect the youth of today.

Screaming at youths who stab each other is all very good and launching daily hate campaigns through various cesspits of media, BBC, ITV, clearly shows that you're not grasping at straws at all. Kudos.

But what I intend to do, and I know you've thought of this before but stopped when it became unfashionable, is to secure my generation and perhaps the next one through appealing to their intelligence instead of their paranoia. Instead of gaining power through fear promote the individual so that when they grow up they don't hide away, buy guns and bigger locks for their doors rather that they have opinions, no matter how stupid, and are truly free.

Sure such plans would destroy this world moreso than any "democracy" has ever done but I FOLLOWING INFORMATION CENSORED

HAVE A NICE DAY

Recent post summary.

Until we get everything online (including page facades), everything is going to look a bit cluttered, so here's a temporary summary page while we give everything a bit of a break.

All the main audio's been added now - a load of archival stuff has yet to be posted, but archives come last as they're the least important. A couple of the important art sections are added too, but the full upload of the art section has yet to be completed.

Content will be a bit sparse after this post as we prepare the Literature section to be uploaded - and believe me, that's going to take a while.

So, a few links for you:

Art Links

How To Be A Homosexual

Hiatus Theme

Jazz Who

La Valse D'Amelie

Innocent Girl

Also, check out our Twitter updates to find out exactly what's on our minds right now, either by navigating back to the front page or accessing either of our Twitter profiles:

Until then, sit down, shut up and be entertained.

Planning.

Another apology letter, I'm afraid.

Right now, due to the whole blog structure of HiatusMedia (and given that we've made a transition from just the news and ideas in blogs to the whole site), the whole file structure of HiatusMedia is having to be revised off-site, along with the destruction of certain materials which need to be separated from the good stuff.

All of this, naturally, is going to take a while, given the labyrinthine nature of my computer directories. And thus, because all of this needs to be done off-site, it may be a while before even the smallest stuff becomes live.

We're also vetting everything for offensive content, and applying different content labels according to their level of explicitness. This will be determined according to level of profanity, sexual and/or violent themes or description and other factors that could affect different age groups.

We remind you now that users under the age of fifteen should not access this website without the given consent of an adult over the age of eighteen, and this is explicitly stated in the terms and conditions. Violation of these terms and conditions, unless other laws supercede them, is entirely the fault of the user, and any events that occur from ignorance of these terms is entirely the responsibility of the user.

On a less official note, expect some new content once we get everything back online - we've already got a few things knocking around.

Activity.

It feels like all I've really done since the very first site opened is apologise for our inactivity, but here's another just to make sure we're keeping on form.

Yes, there's not much on the site at the moment. In fact, there's probably only really this and this. We would update it with new content, but to be completely honest we can't be bothered at the moment. We have exams, and whenever we don't, the sun is usually shining.

This time capsule has yet to be buried.

Buy our stuff.

Anyone observant enough will notice that we've become money-grabbing consumers and we're now placing an Amazon "Widget" with links to stuff we own and recommend.

We highly recommend that you buy the stuff there, and what's more if you do so we get money. So it's a win-win situation, really.
